Full Moon Lantern Festival. Private boat. Your Áo Dài. The Thu Bon River lit by a thousand lanterns.

On Day 4 we get ready together as a group, put on the custom Áo Dài you had made the day before, walk the Ancient Town at golden hour with private photography — then board a private boat on the Thu Bon River for the floating lantern release. That evening is the reason this trip exists.

The trip

Hoi An is the most beautiful town in Southeast Asia. We built six days around its best night.

Hoi An's Ancient Town turns golden at dusk. Silk lanterns hang from every doorway. Tailors have been making custom clothing here for four hundred years. And once a month, on the full moon, the electricity goes off, the river fills with floating light, and ten thousand people walk the cobblestones in near silence. February 15, 2027 is that night.

RIVERGLOW is built in reverse: we started with the Full Moon Lantern Festival and designed six days that earn that evening. Custom Áo Dài made the day before, so you're wearing it when it matters. A private boat on the river, so you see the lanterns from the water. Photography and video captured throughout, so the moment doesn't just live in your memory.

Everyone stays at a boutique riverside hotel with pool. Every room is private — no single supplement, no roommate matching, no "we can try to pair you." Eight women maximum. The free time built into the schedule is intentional — Hoi An rewards wandering. The experiences we've curated are ones you couldn't find or book independently.

What you'll do

Seven experiences. Zero filler.

🧵

Custom Áo Dài — same-day

Late afternoon on Day 2: measurements, silk selection, custom fit at a Hoi An tailor. Garment delivered to your hotel room same day. You wear it for the first time the following evening at the Full Moon Festival. It's yours to keep.

🍽️

Private Welcome Dinner

Evening on Day 2: a private 4-course chef tasting menu at a 250-year-old riverside location no app has found. Storytelling host. Welcome cocktail. Round-trip transfers. The kind of dinner that makes the rest of the trip feel possible.

🧶

Private Artisan Walking Tour

Day 3 morning: hidden alleys, silk-making, leather craft, a Buddhist temple, stitch drawing, organic exhibition, green bean cake and tea on a rooftop. Private group. No tourists. About three hours, with coffee at the end.

🌸

Signature Perfume Making Workshop

Day 3 afternoon: craft a personal 10ml Eau de Parfum using pure essential oils. Elegant packaging, professional photos. The perfume you wore yesterday at the festival — you made it yourself the day before that.

🍸

Secret Cocktail Tour

Evening on Day 3: four hidden venues — a rooftop art gallery, 200-year-old family homes, a 1920s speakeasy. Handcrafted cocktails, gourmet bites, local storytelling host. About three hours. Not on any app.

🛵

Rural Villages Experience

Afternoon on Day 5: riverside wet market, rice cracker making, mat weaving, rice wine distilling, sunset ride back to the hotel. One of the most genuinely Vietnamese experiences you can have in the Hoi An region.

Questions

Things people ask

What is the Full Moon Lantern Festival in Hoi An?

On the 15th of every lunar month, Hoi An's Ancient Town turns off its electric lights from dusk and fills the streets and river with paper lanterns. It's one of the most beautiful recurring events in Southeast Asia — no ticket, no performance, just the old town under lantern light. February 15, 2027 is the festival. We built this trip around that date specifically.

When is the early bird deadline, and what changes after that?

The early bird rate of $3,200 is available for any booking made through August 12, 2026. After that date, the standard rate of $3,500 applies. Nothing else changes — same itinerary, same hotel, same activities, same max group of 8. The difference is $300. Book before August 12 and you save it.

Do I need a visa for Vietnam?

Yes. Vietnam requires an e-visa for most foreign nationals, including US, UK, EU, Canadian, and Australian passport holders. It's straightforward — apply online at evisa.gov.vn, costs roughly $25, and takes about 3 business days. We send complete visa guidance to everyone who books. Don't leave it to the week before departure.

What is an Áo Dài, and how does the same-day tailoring work?

The Áo Dài (pronounced "ao yai") is Vietnam's traditional garment — a long fitted tunic over wide-leg trousers. Hoi An tailors have been making custom clothing for generations, and same-day turnaround is genuinely standard here. On Day 2 afternoon you'll consult with the tailor on fabric, silk color, and neckline. The garment is made and delivered to your hotel room before dinner. You wear it for the first time the next evening at the Signature Moment reveal. It's made for your specific measurements — not off a rack.

Is Hoi An safe for women traveling alone?

Hoi An is consistently ranked one of the safest and most female-friendly destinations in Southeast Asia. Violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. The Ancient Town is compact, walkable, and well-lit even without the lantern festival. That said, you're traveling with seven other women and a curated group — you won't be navigating anything alone unless you want to.

What's the weather like in February in Hoi An?

February is one of the best months to visit. Hoi An in mid-February is warm (high 70s–low 80s°F / 24–27°C), low humidity, and historically the driest stretch of the year in central Vietnam. Pack light layers for air-conditioned restaurants; everything else is warm enough for the Áo Dài.

What if I need to cancel?

Full refund up to 90 days before departure. 50% refund 60–89 days out. No refund within 60 days, but your spot is transferable to someone else. Travel insurance covering trip cancellation is required and genuinely worth it for any international trip — it's inexpensive relative to the cost of the booking.
